The Story of the Drift
Filmed over several months in an observational vérité style, the documentary will follow the demanding journey along the Drift while capturing the lives of the ranchers, specifically Jonita Sommers, who still continue this tradition today. Through archival materials and interviews, the film will also explore the broader themes of heritage, conservation, and the realities of modern ranching in the American West.

This project aims to preserve and share the story of one of the last remaining long-distance cattle drives in the United States.
The Making of a Living Legacy
Filming 'The Green River Drift' required our production team to become part of the rhythm of the trail. For 5 consecutive months, we will embed ourselves with ranching families, navigating the same high-desert plateaus and mountain passes on horseback. Capturing the raw sincerity of the drift meant enduring 4 AM starts, unexpected mountain storms, and the constant challenge of transporting high-end cinema equipment through pathless wilderness. Our goal wasn't just to observe, but to document the grit and the quiet moments of connection between the riders, their horses, and the land that has sustained this tradition since the 1890s.
A VITAL LEGACY
Preserving Wyoming's Heart
The Green River Drift is more than a trail—it is the lifeline of a community. By documenting this centennial journey, we ensure the stories of those who steward Wyoming's wild spaces are never forgotten. This film captures the grit, the silence, and the profound endurance of a ranching culture that remains the beating heart of the American West.
